Strategies class is about gaining practice using the strategies of reading and writing. The strategies are ways for students to interact with the text to gain meaning. Some main strategies are: making connections with the text, visualizing, predicting, clarifying for understanding, and summarizing.
Much of the writing we will do in class is in response to what we have read. Students use writing to show that they have: comprehended text, understood sequence, recalled facts and details, compare and contrast, etc.
